NOTICE: Updates weekdays

Jun. 27

The Desert

The Desert areas in Zelda 2 were host to an array of enemies. In this stage you'll have to dodge fireballs coming from the left and right.

Jun. 26

E-Tank

The E-Tank, an item from the Megaman series, could be held onto and used to completly restore health at any time. In NESAS, it will recover you fully when touched.

Contra Hero: Alternate Costumes

In Contra, there were two heroes. Bill Rizer and Lance Bean. Since Bill is the main skin, it's only logical to include Lance as the alternate skin. Contra fans rejoice!

Contra Hero

Contra Hero? Well the hero from Contra of course. The blue pants'd one was known as Bill Rizer. This musclebound Gun-toter uses all ranged attacks. He's a heavy character with devent running and jumping stats.

Our hero's standerd gun is weak, but when used, it adds up quickly. The Machine Gun does no damage, but it fires rapidly and is good for pushing your opponent away. He'll fire the power Bomb diagonally upwards to hit enemies up above. The Power Bomb will explode on contact with the ground.

Luigi: Alternate Costumes

Luigi, much like Mario, has two alternate costumes. Both come from Super Mario Bros. two sequels. Luigi's first alt, his SMB2 skin, has a special feature though. Unlike most costumes, this one has a diffrent animation for his jumps. Instead of being static, the sprite animates, just like in Super Mario Bros. 2.

Jun. 20

NPCs

NPCs are characters who appear in NESAS who are neither playable nor assist trophies. Most come in the form of stage hazards. This section will not include characters who double as Assist Trophies.

Jun. 20

Trouter

Trouters make their appearance in the Subcon stage. They jump out of the water, causing 1% damage for every frame they hit you. Trouters are very dangerous if you catch them going down. They can trap you and cause upwards 30%, sending you flying.

Jun. 20

Chicky

This guy shows up in Vegetable Valley along with Bronto Burt. It flies randomly by. You can't harm it, it's only there for cosmetic purposes.

Grabber

Grabbers are basic enemies from Kung Fu. In NESAS, they appear on the Temple stage. Grabbers will strike and then run away. These cowards can be attacked and defeated, unlike most hazards. A single hit will do them in.

Jun. 19

The Field

NES vets should recognize this scene. Its your basic flat stage. Nothing too special about it really. It might be noteworthy so state that you'll sometimes be attacked by a flock of ducks. Be careful.

Jun. 18

Luigi

Luigi, also known as "that green guy", was not really considered his own character unless you were the hardest of the hard core Mario fans. Luigi's major rolls included Mario is Missing and Super Mario Bros. 2. Luigi is similer to Mario except that he can jump higher but runs slower.

Luigi's Fireballs are much lighter but can't bounce. His Super Jump in almost instantanious, but isn't as powerful as Mario's. Luigi's origional move, the Veggie toss, tosses a random vegetable. Damage depends on the Vegetable thrown. Sometimes Luigi can get a Shyguy or bomb. Plants are easier to weild than Mario's hammers, but cannot be thrown as rapidly.

New York City Skyline

This stage is probably one of the most unique in NESAS. At first glance, it looks like your average flat stage, but in reality, its actually constantly scrolling to the left. If you're not careful, you can be pulled off the stage. ATs and items also have this problem, so don't expect guys like Donkey Kong to stay on long.

Sometimes, the fight will be at night

June. 16

Springboard

The Springboard from the first Super Mario Bros. is not a picky item. It will help or hinder whoever happens to come in contact with it. It will bounce you upwards. On higher areas, this can be quite dangerous. Luckily height is not effected by percentage.

Batman

"What, are you dense? Are you retarded or something? Who the hell do you think I am? I'm the goddamn Batman"

Most super heroes in the NES days got their names slapped on some pretty ugly peices of software. Superman and the Silver Surfer bow their heads in shame while Batman stars in a game riveling some of the best platformers of the era.

Batman is a great projectile user, but his weight combined with less than average jumping makes him hard to move over obstacles. His tripple battarang is a weak move at close range, but if allowed to seperate, the power tripples. Batman's punch is a standard melee attack. Its fast and good for suprise attacks if your foes get too close. Lastly, his boomerangs have a special trick to them that can give them unlimited range. You'll have to find it for yourself though.

Apr. 24

Pacman

Pacman, starring character from the game of the same name, will quickly rush off the screen when summoned. In a few seconds, he will rush across the screen, 3 times his origional size. He'll do major damage if he connects with the opponent.

Apr. 23

Link: Alternate Costumes

Link's alternate costumes are all from Zelda II and are all merely pallette swaps of each other. This red style is Link's shield spell color. The silouette is Dark Link, the game's final boss. Does he count as a seperate character?

Apr. 22

The City

This unnamed area was the first stage in Ninja Gaidan. The stage is basically flat with overhead obsticals.

The swarm of platforms to the right make it a good spot to stay for protection at high percentages. You can also stand on the shameless advertising that some video games were known for back in the day. Coke, forever 8-bit.
